Kia's 'New' Elan

Called a KMS-II while a concept car, the new Kia Elan uses the body of the Elan, but with a weaker powerplant, and a laughably comparable suspension :-(

The design exudes all the nimbleness and exuberance of a true sports car. The roadster-style body is wide and sits low to enhance running stability. At every turn, it projects high performance. This 2-seater convertible is equipped with an 1800cc DOHC engine. Featuring a body constructed of reinforced plastic composite material and an 1800cc DOHC engine, this 2-seater will open a new era of Korean-made sports cars.

Of course Lotus's new tiny convertible is the Elise. While I will show a pic, there are so many pages dedicated to this mid-engined rear driver, that's all I'm showing.

Elan of the Future?

This is an artists conceptual drawing of a future Elan, with rumors that the pic came from Lotus as their new 'small car' platform.

It appears on Kia's Elan page as a prototype for the year 2002.
